WAX FILLER

Wax filler is generally used for filling minor holes, cracks and missing frame parts. However, in the world of laser engraving, it can be used to infill an engraving area! We’ve used it to infill marble, slate, oak, pinewood, even books after they've been engraved.

Why? It's that added special touch you can offer your customer for starters. The wax fillers are available in such a wide range of colours as well. Also when your engraving an item for the first time, it's difficult to know how exactly the laser is going to react with the material. If you aren't happy with the engraving, you can create more of contrast by applying the wax filler. This wax filler is also very affordable, super effective and long-lasting.

Rub n’ Buff

This is a gem of a product and the results are fantastic - especially when applied to engraved glass.

It’s a metallic wax that gives your etchings the look of leafing, but without the hassle and comes in a wide variety of colours! It will stick only to the etching and not the shiny glass. It is fairly durable and can be reapplied when it wears away. Simply rub the wax in over the engraved area, get a clean cloth, and buff off.

The white Rub n' Buff is useful to help enhance an etching, especially if you're engraving onto darker colours of glass, like a wine or champagne bottle perhaps.

Masking Tape

A classic question we get asked all the time from our customers is how to laser cut/engrave plywood or MDF without scorching the substrates. The number one thing to remember is if you are going to engrave or cut into something be aware that the smoke from the process can stain the edges of the surfaces.

To avoid this, apply masking tape to the area you are looking to cut/engrave. The masking tape will not decrease the power of the laser massively - however, bump up the power if you feel it needs it. After running the laser simply peel the masking tape off. It also works well on leather, suede and fabrics.

Laserflex

Laserflex is something a customer of ours uses often to produce a variety of promotional products for his business.

LaserFlex is a high quality, multi-layered polyurethane film highly suited for customising textiles. As a laser cutting material, the finest detailing within intricate motifs can be achieved, which would be impossible to achieve with a cutting plotter.

Once the motif has been engraved and cut out on the laser machine, the design is applied to the textiles using a transfer press. LaserFlex is characterised by good opacity and high elasticity. It is particularly suited to cotton, polyester and blended fabrics.
